Our Searchlight experience

I just finished implementing Searchlight Search and SQL over at ReefCentral.com. With over 11million posts and several thousand folks on nearly all the time, the fulltext searching via vbulletin and mySQL was literally killing us. We ended up splitting searching to a dedicated slave database but it was only a stop-gap solution.

With Searchlight installed, our performance is WAY up. Searches that previously would take down the board, complete in a few seconds and our users are thrilled.

The addition of the SQL component for QoD resolution made such a difference that I was able to shut down our slave database server.

The product is well thought out and masterfully executed. The man hours necessary to build this type of solution in-house vs purchase make it absolutely a no-brainer.
