We are happy to announce that the closed beta period was completed successfully. The main focus of this maintenance release was to further enhance the product performance and stability, while fixing various bugs reported by users in previous version. Axivo Repository Update With 2.2.1 release, Sphinx 2.0.2 is used as search daemon to interact with Searchlight. The new RPM's are present into Axivo Repository. We improved the repository by creating a geolocation system that allows you do download our RPM's based on your current location. We plan to expand the number of servers in various countries soon. If you are a host provider and want to host our RPM's, please contact us for further details. If you previously installed the repository into your servers, refer to the upgrade instructions listed below. Source Code Improvements First, let us thank our 2 star forum owners who decided to test the beta product in a live environment: Vlad Dusil from Purse Blog Igor Damian from Boerse Even if marked as minor maintenance release, the server related part contains substantial upgrades related to performance. As you noticed, Searchlight runs on a unreleased/customized version of Sphinx and we are proud to offer you this version before anyone else. It is available for everyone, in our repository: Within following release, we will super-seed the current Sphinx release to 2.0.4 version. We decided to delay this RPM version because not enough tests were performed, related to product stability on a busy server environment. Bleeding edge does not equals to unreliable and we want to make sure it stays like that. Related to Searchlight server options, the pre-fetched model was abandoned in favor of the new threaded model, which increases drastically the overall performance. We tested with success Searchlight into Boerse site, on a 10 servers cluster that supports in average 15,000 online members. Searchlight was used in combination with our custom MariaDB RPM's and the performance gains were superb. Of course, we had to fine tune the MySQL configuration settings but we are very happy with the end results. We also defined the Sphinx data structure in a format that is similar to MySQL. For example, indexes are now stored into database named directories: Code: # ls -l /var/lib/sphinx total 44 drwxr-xr-x 2 sphinx root 98288 Nov 16 20:00 boerse -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23 Oct 26 19:21 exceptions -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 52 Oct 26 19:21 stopwords -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3540 Oct 26 19:21 stopwords.all -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Oct 26 19:21 wordforms The new Searchlight Task Manager will also allow you to manage complex tasks related to your search data, while still remaining extremely user friendly. We also fixed several bugs related to vBulletin Search Engine product. For example, most of you know that the "-" negation sign is an operator in all search engines. In previous versions, it was impossible to perform a search that contained keywords like wi-fi or artist - title. Among other improvements, the current release fixes all these issues and also introduces support for Unicode characters, regardless what encoding type you use in your MySQL database.
