Sorry if I missed this somewhere... any plans to support vb4.0? Looks like they're already on Gold.
Yes, support for vBulletin 4 is planned.
However, it is not suitable for any large board to run a software that is untested properly and has over 1000 unaddressed bugs.
Searchlight will "enhance" the currently crippled vBulletin 4 search. There are several options who were removed, not to mention how the search framework was written. I mean, why would a developer write a separate framework, just for search?
In this scenario, I will use my own frame who is very light and robust. Is the same frame used in vBulletin 3.8 version. As I mentioned earlier, it is very easy adapting it to any software, not only to vBulletin. I could create in a snap a product for Wordpress that will grab the blog posts using Searchlight and enable the search functions also.
Searchlight is not a "search only" product.
Lol. Yeah, when it takes 31 seconds of search time to search vb.com (4.0 gold) for "sphinx", it's not a good sign.
Looking forward to future product announcements -
what is the status on vb 4 support?
Still the same situation. There are plans for a complete rewrite of search in 4.1, as well many other fixes to current code quality. I don't see myself offering an upgrade before that version, for the sake of running a stable product. None of the large forums I know run vBulletin 4 and they don't intend to upgrade, unless a very stable platform is offered.
